BREEDING PROCEDURE
- live cover is accomplished in-hand with two handlers
- breeding hobbles are used on mares only when deemed necessary
- a twitch is used only when necessary for protection of handlers and stallion
- mare & stallion are washed with plain water before each cover, tail wrapped
- mares are teased daily and first bred when in a "standing heat" and every 36-48 hours throughout
- heat cycle. Breeding more often is detrimental and leads to a continued inflammatory response and
- can result in an inflammed uterus, unable to maintain a pregnancy.
